1. Intro: Mocy Bell Motorcycle Bell

Mocy Bell® is short for Motorcycle Bell, the real stainless steel motorcycle bell that wards off evil spirits from the road.

This is the original story of Mocy Bell®, the little lucky motorcycle bell, commonly known as the Gremlin, Spirit, Lucky or Guardian Bell.

Mocy Bell® reveals all about our motorcycle bell so there will no longer be any secrets for bikers and trikers around the world.

2. History of the bell

First of all, you should know that the bell is one of the oldest sound instruments we know. We find traces of the first bells in Asia, over 4000 years ago.

The primary function of bells was to emit a signal. Furthermore, they were used to communicate with people but also with the gods.

As early as the 11th century AD, Catholics in England and Scotland rang bells to ward off malevolent spirits.

Thus the use of bells hanging from windows, doors and overhangs has been used in many cultures and traditions to ward off evil spirits.

3. Gremlin Bells: From Airplanes to Motorcycles

In the 1920s, Royal Air Force pilots started talking about little creatures wreaking havoc on their planes.

They described little half-human, half-demon creatures that would playfully sabotage their planes. This is when the word "gremlin" was coined, derived from the Old English "gremman" or "gremian" which means "to offend".

English and then American pilots began to actually use these bells to ward off "gremlins" and many of them even claimed to have just seen them before an accident or malfunction.

After World War II and when American pilots returned home, many of them bought Harley Davidson or Indian motorcycles and trikes and created bikers clubs to pursue their friendship, mutual support and brotherhood, after these military years.

These former soldiers continued to protect themselves from the dangers of the road and evil spirits by hanging small bells on their motorcycles.

4. Guardian bell: The story of the old biker

In several states, many lives were saved, such as that of a former US Air Force pilot and old biker named Jack.

His story shaped the legend.

A few days before Christmas, on a road in Mexico, Jack was returning home from a special mission on his Harley-Davidson.

Indeed, he had just left an orphanage for young children where he had left toys collected with his brothers from the road.

That evening, exhausted from all the miles he had travelled, something startled him causing him to fall violently while entering a hairpin bend.
He found himself totally trapped, in a ditch surrounded by a large number of gremlins.

The devilish little creatures, in their usual uproar, were begging and, bribing him to leave planet earth and join them in hell.

Jack didn't give up.

Still able to move his arms, he started throwing at them whatever he could find in his pockets: his glasses, his lighter, his knife... But to no avail!
Increasing in numbers, these despicable gremlins kept hounding and asking him to join them on the other side...

Then, in a last effort, the old man managed to grab the little bell attached to his key ring and rang it for several minutes...

Meanwhile, out of the darkness of the woods, two other bikers who were camping nearby suddenly heard the distinctive bell ring and decided to follow the sound...

They discovered the battered old biker just in time and miraculously, his life was saved!!

A few weeks later and as a token of appreciation, old biker Jack offered a small bell to his 2 new road brothers.
He told them that this bell had saved his life and how important it would be that every biker or triker had one too.
However, he made sure to mention that it was better to hang it under their motorcycle.
"You have to fix it as close as possible to the road so that the little demons get away from it as much as possible" said the old biker.
"That way, as they wander around on the roads, they won't be able to orchestrate all these damages and accidents" he added.

Finally, old Jack told them that ringing of the bell is unbearable for the gremlins' sensitive ears, and that without that protection he would certainly be dead.

5. Birth of the lucky charm bell

The news quickly spread all over the United States, and within a few months, countless bikers and trikers hung a bell to protect themselves but also to keep alive the memory of brothers and friends who had already disappeared on the roads.

Finally, this motorcycle bell had become the guardian angel and the universal lucky charm for bikers!

All these American bikers said that the few dollars spent on this bell were well worth the cost for the protection of their bike and especially their life.
